S€X – STATISTICS – CAPITALISM

s€x – statistics – capitalism explores how digital platforms present themselves as tools for connection, while in reality operating as structured systems where s€x, statistics, and capitalism intersect. Profiles turn bodies into data (age, height, body type, gender markers, sexual position) forming something like a scannable ‘’barcode’’. Within this grid, desire becomes organized and measurable: who is seen, who is clicked, who is ignored.

Through an intersectional lens, we can look at how these systems reproduce social hierarchies. Filters, algorithms, and norms tend to privilege certain bodies (often white, cisgender and young) while others are excluded, invisibilized, or fetishized. What may feel like individual preference is deeply shaped by broader power structures. How do statistics shape the way we desire and recognize one another?

At the same time, capitalism is embedded at the core of these platforms. Visibility is monetized, access is tiered, and attention is distributed algorithmically. The more visible a body becomes, the more it circulates, and the more it is transformed into capital. In this way, s€x, statistics, and capitalism are inseparable, inscribed directly onto queer bodies. How does capitalism influence queer emancipation, and what becomes visible, acceptable, or profitable?

Within this tension, the exhibition looks for moments of resistance and alternative ways of relating; glimpses of futures not fully captured by these systems, where queer bodies can exist in their full complexity. And how might queer bodies resist or move beyond systems of extraction, fetishization, and control?
